Este BarattoConnecting the Community
We are living in a time in which the single is becoming more important than the community and when we hear someone who is “working for the community” , they are often talking about the logistic aspects of a city: the infrastructures, more fundings, more objects.
We need to do something for the social aspects of our communities, rebuild that sense of solidarity and belonging and start filling the streets again.
That’s how Este Baratto was born: Baratto in italian means “trade”and is a day in which the use of money is not allowed and in which the community put their belongings, products, skills and time at the service of others.
In fact in the Este Baratto market, you can trade objects with objects but also with time. An hairstilist can exchange an haircut with a jacket, a gardener can exchange 2 hours of garden work for 2 hours of something equivalent.
The conditions of the trade are decided between the 2 parties and a small contract is provided to them to sign.
Este Baratto was organized for 1 year in the squares of 2 different Italian cities.
